Tonight’s tale is from Sam. It is her second story in the series so lets give her ago shall we. Her stories tend to be of forgotten love so sit back and make some popcorn for this love story.
The night begins with an arm wrestling match against my future ex-husband Tucker and Kiki, which doesn’t really seem fair, but they are about the same size so I suppose its an even match.
The Gary says “This is pitiful.” and he is leaning against a tree with Frank, when Betty Ann walks in, she has a pink vest on and greets them. Sam soon follows her. Tuckers gets distracted by her and losses to Kiki. Tucker says “Ow no fair! I was distracted!” Frank isn’t buying Tucker’s excuses. Tucker says to Kiki “Let’s go again. You and me. Come on.” Kiki has better things to do and says “Forget it Pee Wee.” Tucker responds with “I can beat you anytime, anyplace.” (Um you know that is a false statement right, Kiki just beat you so yeah). Betty Ann inquires about what is going on.
Frank tells her “Tucker’s mad because Kiki called him a runt.” Also both Frank and The Gary look stoned out of their minds (maybe they were smoking the “midnight dust”).
Kiki apologizes to Tucker for calling him a runt. I am not sure if she actually means it, but hey an apology is an apology and Kiki doesn’t strike me as the type of person to say it unless she meant it. Tucker says “No you’re not. you’re just scared I’m gonna beat you.” (Jesus Tucker learn to take an apology). Then Kiki says “yeah, that must be it. I’m–I’m scared.” The Gary speaks up and says “speaking of scared, you’re up tonight, Sam. You ready?” (finally The Gary has the schedule down or maybe he remembered because it is Sam’s turn). Sam says “Sure.” (Aw the confidence of a person who possibly did not prepare). Sam begins by saying “I’ve got a story about something incredibly horrifying. But it’s not monsters or demons or any of the usual scary stuff. It’s abut something that can strike any one of us (unless your immortal) at any time. And it’s always when we least expect it.” The Gary is intrigued and says “What is it?” Sam says ” true love.” Kiki says “You’re kidding.” I have to admit I would have the same reaction. Sam tries to defend her statement by saying “Come on. Who says love isn’t scary? It can really hurt sometimes. But love is what people live for. and in my story, it’s sort of what they die for. Then Sam submits her story for the approval of the Midnight Society and throw in the Midnight dust by herself for the first time, and calls her tale: The Tale of the Dream Girl.
We are introduced to Brother and Sister team Johnny and Erica. They are super close, like if you did not know they were siblings, you might think the are dating close.
Johnny finds a class ring in his locker, and asks Erica if she put in the locker. She looks at it and says no, but it is a girls ring. Johnny puts the ring on his pinky but cannot take it off.
Later that night Erica is doing homework and watching TV with Johnny, when her mom comes down to tell her its bedtime. Her mom tells her not to argue with her. Johnny says “good night mom.” But she doesn’t respond. Erica goes to bed, while Johnny stays up and watches TV. He falls asleep and hears a woman’s voice calling him. She inquires about his whereabouts and then finds him.
She tells Johnny to wake up, but he doesn’t and she leans in to kiss him and at that moment he is awoken.
The next day at the bowling alley, the manger comes and tells Erica he is happy that he doesn’t have to hire another maintenance guy and the longer he holds off the better his books look, basically he is making money. It’s all about the Benjamin’s! Johnny overhears this and complains to Erica about not being appreciated. He tells her, “Who does he think keeps this place running anyway?” Then Johnny see the girl from his dreams and decides to go over and talk to her. But Cheryl doesn’t see Johnny and ignores him and walks away.
Johnny goes into his locker, and notices all his stuff is missing. Then he hears a girl calling him again, and the girl says “Johnny, it’s me. It’s Donna.” Johnny kind of freaks out and sees her. He tells her not to move. Johnny follows Donna through the bowling alley. Then he hears screaming and covers his ears.
Later on at home, Johnny tries to talk to his mom, she ignores him. Then Johnny finds a letter addressed to him. It’s a love letter from Donna Maitland. She tells him to meet her tonight at the bowling alley snack bar.
When Johnny walks into the snack bar, he is greeted by people claiming to be the night shift. The lady at the counter gives him a hot apple pie ala mode and a cola chaser. Johnny tells her that is he order and she says she knows. Then Donna shows up and says “I hope I am not late.” Johnny says “I thought you weren’t gonna show.” Donna says “I’d never stand you up!, I can’t your’re wearing my ring.” Johnny says “This is yours?” Donna says ” Let’s dance.” So they dance and Johnny asks her questions about who she is and how she knows him. She tells him it is almost time to go and she wants him to come with her. Then it is too late. Johnny knocks over a table and everyone disappears.
Johnny runs home to tell Erica about seeing Donna, but before he can say anything, Erica shows him this:
She tells Johnny she is dead. Johnny can’t believe what he is hearing. Erica tells Johnny that Donna was driving with her boyfriend and the car stalled on the railroad tracks. Donna and her boyfriend got out of the car, but Donna forgot her school ring that her boyfriend had just given to her. Donna went back to get it and a train came. Johnny keeps telling Erica that he saw her and he talked to her. She said he had her ring.
Johnny tries to get the ring off his hand, when Donna appears again. She says “Don’t run from me Johnny. I want your to come with me” Johnny tells her “Take your stupid ring back.” Donna tells Johnny that it is him that she wants. Johnny tells Donna to leave him alone, but she tells him it’s time and to go with her.
Johnny and Erica go back home and she tries to get Johnny to relax, but he cannot. The phone rings and it is Donna, Johnny tells her it;s not a funny joke and to leave him alone. Donna says “I’m sorry Johnny. I won’t bother you anymore.” She hangs up and the ring falls off his finger on to the floor.
Erica is kind of impatient with Johnny and asks him if he still thinks it is all a joke. He says “I don’t know.” So Johnny decides to give Donna her ring back, by going to the graveyard. I think he is going to place it on the headstone.
So Johnny and Eric go to the graveyard. Once there Johnny finds Donna’s grave right away. He falls right on to it. Erica asks Johnny “How did you know it would be right here?” Johnny says “I didn’t I just….” Eric say “Happen to wander away from me get lost and trip right over it?” Johnny looks at Erica and says “what are you talking about?” Erica say” You knew exactly where she was buried why do you think that it?” Johnny is still confused. Erica tells him “Maybe you’ve been here before, did you ever think of that?” He say no he hasn’t been there before. Then she brings up the accident and shows him this:
Then Donna show up and he agrees to go with her. Before he leaves, Johnny gives Erica the ring to remember him by. Then Johnny and Donna walk to wherever they are going together. They are together at last.
Sam ends her story by saying “Erica was always going to miss Johnny, but it made her feel better to know that he was happy at last with the girl of his dreams. The end.” The Gary says “Good one Sam.” Tucker says “Cool you’re a ghost and you don’t know it.” Kiki says “yeah like your a runt and you don’t even know it.” Tucker says “I’ll show you who’s a runt.” Then he gets up to chase Kiki through the woods. The Gary declares the meeting of the Midnight Society closed as Betty Ann and Frank leave, and he puts out the fire. Sam waits around for The Gary to finish. When he finishes they run after the others.
This wasn’t a scary story, but I have noticed apart from her initiation story, none of Sam’s stories are scary. This isn’t to say her stories are not any good, they are just about unfinished business or lost of love. I think Sam might be a romantic.
- Sam was low key flirting with The Gary at the very end.
- I liked how Tucker and Kiki interacted with one another in this episode.
- This story would have benefited from a cut to the Midnight Society halfway through to clear up some things.
- I would say this was a good effort for a second story.
- I’ve come to the realization that this story is very similar to season 1’s The Tale of the Prom Queen as told by Kristen.
Good Job Sam on your second story: The Tale of the Dream Girl. Up next is our resident tough girl, Kiki with her story: The Tale of Quicksilver, which stars Jason Alisharan’s brother Kyle and Tatyana Ali from Fresh Prince of Bel-air.
**Side note next week is finals, so I cannot promise that I will be posting as often as I am trying to pass all my classes, but I can promise that once I am finished I will party hard and try to arrange an interview.
Until next time…. Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society, I call this story: The Tale of Moira’s Afraid of the Dark? (But not really) blog 10 of Season 3.
I would like to interview *cough*Ross Hull or Raine Pare-Coull or Jodie Resther, *cough* I feel that if enough people tweet at them or Facebook them, and let them know about this blog, it can happen! Let’s make my dream come true!
